Confucius say darkstar fall down, go boom

Actually, Confucius say “Our greatest glory is not in never falling but in rising every time we fall.” Close enough.

Just a little post to capture the current issue with darkstarllc and their Ventrilo hosting.

Apparently, they were hit with some sort of malicious attack and are in the process of recovering.

The attack was bad enough that they had to pull down every web page associated with darkstar, even my emails to tech support were being returned.

Since darkstar does not currently have the ability to reach their customers through normal means, they have representatives in forums of the communities that are hit the hardest by this while they try to scratch together something more official.

There are, of course, people whining about this.

Ran OS 25 and pulled 2836 overall, #9 in DPS. Still having issues with the aggro on the adds when it’s this particular pally tank, but we got by. FYI – the casters really appreciate it if everyone KILLS ALL THE ADDS BEFORE LOOTING SARTH. KTHXBAI. Seriously, your emblems aren’t going anywhere, finish off the elementals.

I’m losing my QQ touch.

Friday ran VoA 10 and 25. Started with the 25, joined a raid in progress that was having trouble getting its feet off the ground. Raid leader finally admitted that they had never put together a Vault raid and didn’t know what to do. I volunteered and took over.

DPS on that 25-man rocked. I think we had 3 people pulling over 3500. Enrage timer? What enrage timer?

And… drum roll  please… I got the T7.5 Valorous Frostfire Gloves!

This is a happy post!

Why?

Because my guild finally accomplished something with a minimum of deaths and mages are going to get PANTS!!! More on the PANTS!!! later, let’s talk about OS 10.

Thursday nights are kind of special in our little group. We have one friend that’s playing a resto shaman and he hardly ever gets to be on at the same time as the rest of us. He’s got the work schedule from hell, so we set aside Thursday nights specifically to run something with/for him.

Last night we had just about everyone on… what do you want to do? I don’t know, what do you want to do? Guild chat looks like 2 teenagers on their first date. Except there’s 7 of us and we’ve been playing for months.

How about 10-man Obsidian Sanctum? This offer from the DK, who is currently in his tank spec.

WoW Drives Some to Drink

I am experiencing technical difficulties with my computer.

I hate Norton’s Antivirus/Spyware, but when Vista came out, it was all my ISP would offer. Now I have a new ISP,  more choices and have decided to get new AV protection. I am even willing to pay for it this time.

My new choice suggests that I get Service Pack 1 installed.

I tried. And the very nice technician in India also tried. And her manager. Microsoft is now sending me a new OS disk, with SP1 on it. They are very sorry for the inconvenience.

Prior to all this mucking about in my computer, WoW ran very well. Now, if I open the map, cast a spell, hold still, pick my nose, etc. it decides to freeze. Oh, and the sound catches. I either get to hear things stutter (“Damn… damn… damn… damn… damn the luck!”) or I get to hear all the sound after combat in one big whoosh of casting/explosions/dying. It’s very odd after going through an entire combat sequence in erie silence. I’m one of those people that HAS to have the sound on to play so it’s rather frustrating; as is looking at the party frame and knowing that someone needs to be de-cursed but I can’t move.

UP Success and T7 Gloves

Back in my Best. Weekend. Ever.post, I talked about getting through Utgarde Pinnacle on heroic without our normal tank. There was much rejoicing and screen shots were taken with us gloating over Skadi’s lifeless form. I still need to post those…

We needed to complete it with our normal, main tank. He needed the nifty Red Sword of Courage out of there. It turns out to be the heroic daily yesterday.

With quite a bit of trepidation, we set out to meet our multiple deaths.

Monday Night of Awesome, Sort of

My weekend high continued into Monday night. I log in to see that there’s less than 15 minutes to WG, start watching chat for the name to whisper for an invite to the WG raid.

“You doing anything?”

Oh hey, it’s that tank again! “Nope, just getting ready to run WG.”

“I need you in my 25-man EoE raid.”

Best. Weekend. Ever.

I may be exaggerating, but it was an awesome weekend.

Friday night I’m kicking it around Dal, thinking about what I want to go do. I’ve got a ton of quests left in Northrend and I really need to open up the Ebon Blade quartermaster.

I get a random whisper from some guy I don’t recall ever meeting before, “Hey, want to DPS H CoS?”

Press Pause on Warlock; Press Play on Hunter

OK, the warlock help situation is on hold for a little bit. She’s making a concerted effort to figure some stuff out so we’ll see where she is in a week or so.

The guild hunter, on the other hand, may have been a much easier fix.

Our hunter just hit 80 sometime last week I think. She’s very much a casual player – plays as often as she can, has a few add ons, but doesn’t have an interest in memorizing hit rating tables and whatnot. But she listens when we make suggestions to her rotation and wants to improve so she can be more helpful.
