Yup, you heard it right folks, I’m going to tell you how to get from level 66 to level 80 in just ONE DAY!
In 17 easy steps!
No heirloom gear.
No generous individuals running you through instances.
All by your little lonesome you can do this!
Step 1:
Roll a DK and futz about until you get to level 60 or so. Mine was a belf by the name of Kaayn on my home server.
Step 2:
Get bored or busy and neglect said DK.
Step 3:
Wait for your realm to be down for mysterious circumstances.
Step 4:
Decide to roll a DK alt on another realm to stave off boredom. I chose to roll a night elf, Initri, on a PvE realm where I knew of a guild I could get into to meet some people with a shared interest. (The podcast Inside Azeroth may be done now (RIP), but I hear the Gardners of Gilneas over on Runetotem are still going strong.)
Step 5:
Spend about 3 months dicking about and getting up to 80 in between everything else.
I can hear you now, “But wait! I thought you were going to tell me how to get to 80 in a day, not 3 months!”
And so I shall. Trust me.
Step 6:
Realize that the raiding times aren’t meshing with your life and transfer the level 80 DK to another server to help a friend keep some raids going.
Step 7:
Raid a couple times and watch the guild lapse into apathy.
Step 8:
Neglect the level 80 DK.
Step 9:
Poke at the first DK some more, getting him up to 66 before deciding that you don’t have time to level a DK at the moment.
Step 10:
Transfer the level 80 DK to yet another server to get seed money and a little gear to some more alts.
Step 11:
Feel useless because you only have 2 raid-ready characters in your guild and you need 3 to provide adequate assistant to your raid leader. The raid leader that keeps dropping hints it would be nice to have some more melee DPS.
Step 12:
Fret about getting Kaayn (substitute name of your DK from step 1 here) to 80 and feel overwhelmed at the prospect of leveling again.
Step 13:
Bite the bullet. Figuratively, please.
Step 14:
Delete Kaayn. Cry a little.
Step 15:
Server transfer Initri AGAIN, this time to my home server.
Step 16:
Faction transfer from night elf to blood elf.
Step 17:
Rename Initri to Kaayn.
And there you have it!
Kaayn went from 66 to 80 in just one day!
Hmm … my priest went from 16 to 41 that way. And he looks much better on a horse than he did on that stupid hawkstrider. :P
