Day 7 Blogging Challenge

Day 07 – The reason behind your blog’s name

(I’ll go back to day 5, I swear.)

When I started the blog, I was really getting in to playing a mage and playing it well.

Blink was actually my favorite spell for a very long time, and I tried to come up with a title that used it, but “blink” was already taken and I couldn’t think of anything that sounded good utilizing the word.

So I was going through my spellbook and poking at WoWwiki and mulling it over.

I didn’t want anything that was too spec-specific, so no or anything like that.

There’s a talent early in the arcane tree called Arcane Concentration. It provides a chance upon a damaging spell hitting a target to place the caster in a clearcasting state where their next spell cast is mana-free.

Don’t quote me on this, but I recall picking it up in my fire spec back in the day as some of the few points that splashed into arcane from fire. Not sure if frost mages took it, but I liked the concept and it makes a pretty spiffy noise in game when you get the Clearcasting buff.

At the time, I did not know that there was also a druid ability that granted the same buff. I was mentioned on a blog or podcast elsewhere and the author commented it was odd that a mage had a druid buff as the blog title… was the first I knew of it. Funny that I’ve never gotten a druid up high enough to experience it first hand.

So seeing as both Druids and Shamans have Clearcasting how are we to know this is a mage centric blog. I think you should change the name to I’m a fucking Arcane Mage you nitpicky fucks :)
